Penny for London Launched!
Penny for London was launched by Boris Johnson on 29th October as a revolutionary way for us all to support local causes. Speaking at the launch at London Bridge he said: “Penny for London is a big, bold idea that will revolutionise the way we give to charity."
The scheme allows commuters to register their contactless payment cards so that every time they travel between 1p and 10p will be donated to charity. The Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund will be one of the charities to benefit from the initiative along with the Mayor's Fund and charities nomimated by Penny for London partners.
